We are a family run home dog boarding service in Devon and we believe that a dog is the heart of the home. Our aim is simply to provide a first class service which gives you peace of mind and your dog a great stay in a happy holiday home. We understand that you see your dog as part of the family, and that kennels are not suitable for all dogs. We carefully match your dog with a loving, responsible host family who cares for your dog as if they were their own.
None of our dogs has EVER seen the inside of a kennel! When we go on holiday or take business trips, they go to their ‘home away from home‘, where they’re looked after as part of the family plus…have great walks too! Our host families are carefully chosen and have to meet our strict criteria. The basic requirements are that they are based at home, have a secure garden, and love dogs. On top of this we then look for people who are responsible and dedicated, who have a good knowledge of dogs and how to care for them. We look for common sense, and people who are able to spot the warning signs in an ill animal. We also look for happy homes, where the dog will feel at ease quickly, and settle into a similar routine to that which they are used to. We have a range of families who will suit a different breeds and energy levels, and we aim to match the right dog to the right family.
We are lucky to live in the beautiful county of Devon, and many of our host families are based in stunning locations with fantastic dog walks, such as on Dartmoor or by the beach.
Unlike some dog boarding services, at Devon Dog Boarding we believe it is important for you to meet the family who will be caring for your dog. We would not want to send our dogs off to an unknown location, and we don’t expect you to either! If either party is not happy, we will arrange for you to meet another family. We aim to introduce you to a family that is geographically close to you, but we will prioritise getting the right match over the closest.
We provide 24 hour emergency support for our families, 365 days per year, so you can relax knowing there is a system in place should your dog’s host family have an emergency.
